Cyanobacteria

A blue-green, slimy sheet, also called BGA, that is actually a bacteria, not true algae.

It often appears in low-flow, nutrient-imbalanced areas and has a distinctive musty smell. Improving circulation, a blackout, or targeted treatment usually clears it.
