Grazes algae and biofilm without harming plants, and cannot breed in fresh water, so numbers stay in check. Keep in water with a pH above 7 and moderate hardness to protect the shell. Supplement with algae wafers or blanched vegetables once algae is gone, and use a lid as nerites sometimes climb out.
