Editing, renewing and expiry

Every classified ad stays up for 45 days. You can edit it any time, renew it to reset the clock, and repost it after it expires or sells. All of this happens from My listings.

How do I edit my listing?

1. Open My listings. You can get there from the list icon in the top bar, My listings in your account menu, Dashboard & settings, or the footer. From your own listing page, tap Manage this listing.
2. Tap Edit on the ad.
3. Change what you need on the Edit listing page.
4. Tap Save changes (it shows Saving… while it works).

You land back on your listing page with the changes live. To back out, tap Cancel or the My listings link at the top, and nothing is changed.

The top of the edit page reminds you: "Changes go live straight away. Editing doesn't reset the expiry date, use Renew for that."

What can I change when editing?

Everything you filled in when posting:

• What are you posting? (For sale, Free or Wanted)
• Title (up to 120 characters)
• Category
• State, Closest metro area and Your town
• Price (USD) and Condition (optional), when they apply
• Photos: remove existing ones with the X and add new ones, up to 8 in total. New photos go after the existing ones.
• Description
• Show my email on the listing and Phone number (optional, shown publicly)

What doesn't change when I edit?

• The expiry date. Editing never adds days. Use Renew 45 days for that.
• Your place in the list. Editing doesn't move your ad back to the top of Newest first. Renewing does.
• The web address. It's based on the title you first posted with, so links you've shared keep working even if you change the title.
• The status. Editing a sold or expired ad doesn't put it back up. Use Repost for that.
• Your view count and messages. Both stay with the ad.

Why does my shown email still show my old address?

When Show my email on the listing is ticked, the ad saves your account email at the moment you post or save. If you've since changed your account email, open the ad with Edit and tap Save changes to update it.

How long does a classified ad stay up?

45 days from when you post it. The post form says "Stays up for 45 days. Renew or delete it any time." Every ad gets the same 45 days, whatever the category or type.

In My listings, each active ad shows how many days it has left, like "12 days left". When 7 days or fewer remain, the countdown turns amber. On the last day it reads "expires today".

How do I renew a listing?

1. Open My listings.
2. On an active ad, tap Renew 45 days.

Renewing does two things right away:

• Resets the ad to 45 days from now.
• Bumps it back to the top of the listings, because ads sort by when they were posted or last renewed. The "Bumped" time in My listings changes to "just now".

Renewing doesn't add days on top of what's left. An ad with 30 days left that you renew has 45 days, not 75. The site doesn't block renewing again later, but every renew simply resets to 45 days from that moment.

What happens when my ad expires?

When the 45 days run out:

• The ad disappears from area pages, the Every listing page, search, and your public profile straight away.
• Shortly after, its status changes to expired in My listings.
• Other people who open its link get a "page not found" page. You can still open it, and you'll see a banner saying it's expired and only you can see it.
• Nothing is deleted. The title, photos, description, views and conversations are all kept.

Expired ads stay in My listings until you repost or delete them.

How do I repost an expired ad?

1. Open My listings.
2. Find the ad marked expired and tap Repost.

It goes live again right away, with a fresh 45 days, at the top of Newest first, with the same link as before. If anything's changed (price, photos), tap Edit first and save, then Repost.

Will I get a reminder before my ad expires?

No. The site doesn't send an email or a notification before or after an ad expires. Keep an eye on the "days left" countdown in My listings, which turns amber in the last 7 days.

The only email your ads trigger is when someone messages you about one: you get an email titled "(name) messaged you about (your ad title)". See Message notifications.

Can I change how long my ad lasts?

No. Every ad lasts 45 days. Renew it before it runs out, or repost it after, as often as you need.

Can I undo an edit?

No. There's no edit history. If you change something by mistake, edit it back. If you removed photos and haven't saved yet, tap Cancel and they stay. Once saved, removed photos have to be uploaded again.

I found an edit page with Stock and Shipping fields. What's that?

That's an old store product editor from a previous version of the site, not your classified ad. Classified ads are edited only from My listings with Edit, and the page is titled Edit listing.

Common problems

I edited my ad but it didn't move up the list. Editing doesn't bump. Tap Renew 45 days in My listings.

My ad disappeared from the area page but My listings still says active. It's past its 45 days. It's hidden from buyers immediately, and its status catches up shortly after. Tap Renew 45 days or, once it shows expired, Repost.

I don't see a Renew button. Renew 45 days only shows on active ads. For expired or sold ads, the button is Repost. For removed ads there's neither.

I don't see a Repost button on a removed ad. Removed ads were taken down by our team for breaking the listing rules and can't be reposted. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com if you think that's a mistake.

"Saving failed: ..." The change didn't save. Check your connection and try again. If it keeps happening, email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the message.

"That didn't save. Try again." A Renew, Repost or Mark sold didn't go through. Reload My listings and try again.

Opening the edit page for someone else's ad just showed me the ad. You can only edit your own ads. If you open the edit link for someone else's ad, you're sent to the ad itself.

"Sign in to edit your listing." You're signed out. Tap Sign in, then open My listings again.
