A gas plants use for photosynthesis and a key lever in high-tech planted tanks.

Adding pressurized CO2 dramatically boosts plant growth, color, and density, but it must be balanced with light and nutrients to avoid algae. Too much CO2 can also suffocate fish, so it is dialed in carefully.
