Inviting friends

Know someone who keeps fish? Invite them with your personal link. When they sign up with it and get involved, it counts toward the referral trophies: Recruiter, Ambassador, Evangelist and Legend Maker.

Where do I find my invite link?

1. Sign in and open Trophies.
2. Near the top, find the Invite people, earn trophies card.
3. Your link is in the box. Tap Copy link; the button changes to Copied for a moment.
4. Paste it anywhere: a text, an email, your club's group chat, social media.

Your link goes to the sign-up page with your username on the end, in the form /register?ref=yourusername. The card only appears once your account has a username. If you don't see it, set a username in your profile.

How does a referral get credited to me?

1. Your friend opens your link (or any page on the site with your ref added).
2. Their browser remembers your username.
3. They create an account, usually straight away on the sign-up page. Signing up with email or Google both work.
4. As soon as they're signed in, the referral is claimed for you.

Only brand-new accounts can be credited. If someone who already has an account opens your link and signs in, nothing is credited.

What do "signed up" and "counted" mean?

The invite card shows two numbers:

• signed up: how many people created an account through your link.
• counted: how many of them have gone on to get involved. Only these count toward the referral trophies.

What counts as getting involved?

A referred member counts once they do at least one of these:

• Post a classified ad.
• Share a tank publicly.
• Reply in the forums.
• Join the Society.

Just signing up isn't enough, which keeps the trophies about bringing real keepers into the community.

What are the referral trophies?

Recruiter, Ambassador, Evangelist and Legend Maker form the Referrals series in your trophy cabinet, climbing as more of the people you invited get involved. The Referrals section of Trophies shows which step you're on and your progress to the next one, for example "Next:" with the trophy name and a count. See Trophies.

Do I earn bubbles or anything else for referrals?

Referrals earn trophies. There's no bubble award or payment for inviting people.

Can I see who signed up with my link?

No. The card shows the two totals only, not names.

Does my friend get anything?

They get a free account like anyone else. Your link doesn't change anything for them, except that their sign-up is credited to you.

What if I change my username?

Your invite link uses your current username. After a change, copy your new link from the Trophies page. Links you shared before the change use the old username and may no longer credit you.

Common problems

My friend signed up but "signed up" didn't go up. The referral is only remembered in the browser where they opened your link. If they opened it on their phone but signed up on a computer, or used a private window that was closed, or their browser blocks site storage, it isn't recorded. It also won't count if they already had an account. There's no way to add a missed referral from the site afterward.

"Signed up" went up but "counted" didn't. They haven't posted an ad, shared a tank, replied in the forums or joined the Society yet. It updates once they do (trophies are rechecked about once a minute while they use the site).

I don't see the invite card. You need a username. Set one in your profile, then reload Trophies.

Copy link didn't work. Some browsers block copying. Tap in the link box to select it and copy it by hand.
