Leaving the Society and editing your details

You manage your Society membership on the membership management page. From there you can change your roster name and contact email, or leave the Society.

Where do I manage my Society membership?

Go to manage your membership, the address /c/underground-aquarium-society?manage=1. There's no link to it inside the member area, so bookmark it.

The ?manage=1 part matters: if you're a member in good standing, opening the membership page without it sends you straight to the member area. If your dues are owed or lapsed, the plain membership page opens anyway and has the same options further down.

What's on the Society manage page?

• Your member card (name, member number, member since, paid-through date or Lifetime).
• A Go to the member area link (when you're in good standing), or a pay box if dues are owed.
• Your details: your roster Name and Email, with an Edit button.
• Leave the Society at the bottom.

How do I change my Society roster name or contact email?

1. Open manage your membership.
2. Under Your details, click Edit.
3. Change Display name ("How you appear on the roster") and/or Email ("Contact email for the club").
4. Click Save. You'll see a small Saved confirmation. Click Cancel to discard changes.

The email is optional. If you leave it blank, your account email is used for Society emails such as reminders.

Where does my Society roster name appear?

Your roster name shows on your member card, the member area menu and your Society certificates. The Society leaderboard shows the name from your site profile instead, so change that in your profile settings if it's different (see Editing your profile).

Can I change my phone number or mailing address?

Not on the site. The phone and address you gave on your application can't be edited from the manage page. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the new details.

How do I leave the Society?

1. Open manage your membership.
2. Scroll to the bottom and click Leave the Society.
3. Your browser asks you to confirm ("Leave Underground Aquarium Society?"). Click OK.

You're taken back to the Society page.

What happens when I leave the Society?

• You lose access to the member area.
• The brass ring on your avatar goes away.
• Your free Underground Aquarium account is untouched: classifieds, messages, forums, feed and tools keep working.
• Leaving doesn't refund dues you've already paid. For refund questions, email support@undergroundaquarium.com before or after leaving.

Do I need to leave the Society to stop paying?

No. Nothing charges automatically, so you can simply not renew. Your membership lapses after your paid-through date, the member area locks, and your records are kept in case you renew later. See Society dues and renewal.

Can I rejoin the Society after leaving?

The confirmation message mentions rejoining if you're invited again. You can also go to the Society page and apply again with Apply for membership. If anything gets in the way, email support@undergroundaquarium.com.

How do I withdraw a pending Society application?

Go to the membership page. Under Application received, click Withdraw application and confirm. You can reapply any time.

Why don't I see a Leave the Society button?

The Society's owner account can't leave. Every other member sees the button at the bottom of the manage page.

Common problems

"Please enter a valid email, or leave it blank." The Email field needs a full address like name@example.com, or nothing at all.

"Couldn't save your details. Please try again." The change didn't save. Try again in a moment.

"Couldn't leave the club." Leaving didn't go through. Reload the page and try again, or email support@undergroundaquarium.com.

The manage page keeps sending me to the member area. Make sure the address ends in ?manage=1: /c/underground-aquarium-society?manage=1.

The manage page says "Couldn't load your membership". The roster couldn't be read just then. Nothing changed. Try again in a minute.
