Reporting content

If something on Underground Aquarium breaks the rules or looks like a scam, report it. Reports go to our moderators, who review every one. The person you report is never told who reported them.

Where can I report things?

Look for the Report link with a small flag icon:

You won't see a Report link on your own listings, feed posts or tanks.

How do I send a report?

For listings, feed posts, forum posts and profiles:

1. Click Report.
2. Choose a reason from the Reason… menu.
3. Optionally add details in Anything else? (optional). Links, dates and what happened all help.
4. Click Send report (or Cancel to close it).

You'll see "Thanks, this has been sent to our moderators."

You must be signed in. If you're not, the form says "You need to be signed in to report." with a Sign in link that brings you back to the same page afterward.

What report reasons can I choose?

• Spam: repeated posts, ads for unrelated things, junk.
• Scam or fraud: fake sellers, requests for gift cards or wire transfers, "too good to be true" deals.
• Prohibited or illegal: species or items the listing rules don't allow, like protected, endangered or state-banned species, or prescription drugs.
• Offensive or inappropriate: harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, personal information posted without consent.
• Misleading or inaccurate: wrong species names, stolen photos, fake prices.
• Other: anything else. Explain in the details box.

If you click Send report without choosing a reason, you'll see "Pick a reason."

How do I report a tank?

1. Open the tank's page.
2. Click Report this tank.
3. Optionally tell us what's wrong in the box ("Tell us what's wrong (optional). We review every report.").
4. Click Submit report.

You'll see "Thanks, this tank has been reported for review." If you see "Couldn't submit, please try again.", sign in and try again. You can't report your own tank.

Can I report a message?

There isn't a Report button inside conversations. If someone is harassing or scamming you in messages:

1. Block them from the conversation page (the Block [name] link under the reply box). See Blocking and safety in messages.
2. Report their profile from the bottom of their public profile, and describe what happened in Anything else?.
3. For anything serious, email support@undergroundaquarium.com with their username.

Can I report a store, review or event?

There's no Report button on store reviews or events. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com with a link and a short explanation. To fix wrong store details (hours, address, phone), use the store page's fix suggestion instead. See Suggesting store fixes and sightings.

What happens after I report something?

1. Your report lands in our moderators' queue with the reason, your details and a link to the item.
2. A moderator reviews it and decides what to do. Depending on what they find, they may:
   • remove or hide a listing
   • hide a forum reply or a whole thread
   • suspend the account
   • take no action if it doesn't break the rules
3. You get a notification with the outcome (see below).

There's no set time for a review.

What notification will I get?

For reports sent with the Report link, you'll get a bell notification when a moderator finishes:

• Report resolved: "Thanks, we took action on [item], which you reported."
• Report resolved: "Your report about [item] has been resolved."
• Report reviewed: "We reviewed your report about [item]. No action was needed."

Tapping it opens the item you reported. You can't turn these notifications off. Tank reports don't send an outcome notification.

Does the person I reported find out?

They're never told who reported them. They only hear anything if a moderator actually takes action, and then they get one of these notifications:

• Listing removed: "Your listing [title] was removed by a moderator."
• Post hidden: "A post of yours was hidden by a moderator."
• Thread hidden: "A thread of yours was hidden by a moderator."
• Account suspended: "Your account has been suspended by a moderator."

If we review a report and take no action, they get nothing.

What happens to a suspended account?

A suspended member's public profile stops showing (visitors get a "not found" page), their tanks are set to private, and they get an Account suspended notification. If you think your own account was suspended by mistake, email support@undergroundaquarium.com.

Can I report the same thing twice?

You can click Send report again, but while your first report on that item is still open, a second one isn't added. There's no need to send it again. If you have new information, email support@undergroundaquarium.com.

Is reporting anonymous?

To the person you report, yes. Our moderators can see who sent a report so we can follow up and prevent abuse of the report button.

Report vs. block: which should I use?

• Report when something breaks the rules and our team should look at it.
• Block when you just don't want to deal with someone. See Blocking people.

You can do both.

Common problems

"You need to be signed in to report." Click Sign in, log in, and you'll come back to the same page. Open Report again.

"Pick a reason." Choose one of the reasons from the Reason… menu before clicking Send report.

I don't see a Report link. You're probably looking at your own content, which can't be reported. On feed posts, the Report link is inside the … menu, and it's only on posts (not on tank or listing cards in the feed; open the tank or listing page to report those). Store reviews, events and messages don't have one; email support instead.

"Couldn't send the report." or another error. Check your connection and try again. If it keeps failing, email support@undergroundaquarium.com with a link to the item.

I reported something and it's still up. Either the review isn't finished yet, or the moderator decided it didn't break the rules. You'll get a notification when it's reviewed.

I was told my post was hidden and I don't know why. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com and include the post or thread. Moderation notices don't include the reason.

Someone is threatening me. Block them, report their profile, and email support@undergroundaquarium.com. If you feel you're in danger, contact your local police.
