Suggesting store fixes and stock sightings
Shoppers keep the directory honest. Two tools on every shop page let you help: Suggest a fix tells us when details are wrong, and Spotted in stock tells other hobbyists what you saw on the shelves.
How do I report wrong store information?
- Open the shop's page.
- Under the contact box (and under Special hours, if shown), tap Something wrong here? Suggest a fix.
- Sign in if asked. Signed out, the box says "Sign in to send a fix."
- Pick what's wrong from the menu.
- Describe the correct details in the box.
- Tap Send, or Cancel to close it.
You'll see "Thanks! We'll check it and update the page."
What can I report with Suggest a fix?
The menu has seven choices:
- Hours are wrong (the box suggests a format like "Tue to Sat 11 to 7, Sun 12 to 5, closed Mondays")
- Closed for good
- Moved to a new address (the box asks for the "New address")
- Phone number is wrong
- Website is wrong
- Name is wrong
- Something else
For every choice, write what the page should say. Your note needs at least 2 characters and can be up to 1,000. Send stays grayed out until you've typed something.
What happens after I suggest a fix?
Nothing on the page changes right away. Your report goes to our team to check. If the shop is claimed, the owner is told too: they get an alert and an email saying "A shopper says" what's wrong, with your note, and it sits at the top of their dashboard until they deal with it. The owner sees your note but not your name.
You won't get a notification when the page is updated. Check back on the shop's page.
Can I see or edit a fix I already sent?
No. Once sent, a fix can't be viewed, edited or withdrawn from the site. If you made a mistake, send another one with the right details, or email support@undergroundaquarium.com.
What is Spotted in stock?
Spotted in stock is a short list on each shop's page where shoppers post what they saw on the shelves: "What shoppers saw at [shop] lately. Stock changes fast, so newer is better." It's written by customers, not the shop.
How do I post what I saw in stock?
- Sign in and open the shop's page. Signed out, you'll see "Sign in to share what you saw here."
- Under Spotted in stock, type in the box that says "Been here recently?".
- Tap Share.
Your post appears at the top of the list straight away with your name and "1m ago".
How long can a stock sighting be, and how long does it stay up?
- Length: at least 3 characters and up to 280. A counter under the box shows how many you've used (for example "42/280"), and typing stops at 280.
- How long it shows: sightings from the last 60 days. After that they drop off the page automatically.
- How many show: the newest 20.
What makes a useful stock sighting?
Say what you saw, how many and the price if you noticed it: "Big batch of cherry shrimp, $4 each. Nice dwarf sag too." Skip reviews of the shop (use a review for that) and anything you didn't see yourself. Sightings follow the community rules, and our team can hide ones that don't belong.
Can I edit or delete my stock sighting?
You can delete it: tap the trash can icon on your own sighting and it disappears straight away, with no confirmation. You can't edit a sighting. Delete it and post a corrected one instead.
Who sees my stock sighting?
Everyone who opens the shop's page, signed in or not. It shows the name on your profile, linked to your public profile when you have a username. The shop's owner sees it on their public page too.
Common problems
"Couldn't post that. Try again." Your sighting didn't save. Check your connection and tap Share again. If an error message with other wording appears, it came from our server: try again in a minute, and if it keeps happening email support@undergroundaquarium.com.
Share is grayed out. Type at least 3 characters.
Send is grayed out on Suggest a fix. Type at least 2 characters describing the correct details.
I reported a fix but the page hasn't changed. Fixes are checked by hand. If the shop is claimed, the owner may update it first. If it's urgent (for example the shop has closed), email support@undergroundaquarium.com.
My sighting disappeared. Sightings older than 60 days drop off, and our team hides ones that break the rules.
I tapped Sign in and ended up on the feed. Search for the shop again after signing in.
Someone posted something false or rude in Spotted in stock. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the shop's name and what the post says.
