Suggesting a missing store
The directory lists independent aquarium and tropical fish stores. If you know one that's missing, you can suggest it in about a minute. Our team reviews suggestions before they appear.
How do I suggest a fish store that's missing?
- Go to Fish stores and scroll to the bottom.
- Find Know a store we're missing? ("Suggest a local fish store and we'll add it to the directory.") and tap Suggest a store.
- Sign in if asked.
- Fill in the form (see the next section) and tap Submit suggestion.
City pages also end with "Own a shop in [city] that's missing or out of date? Add or claim it free." That link takes you to Fish stores, where the form is.
What goes in each field of the Suggest a store form?
The form is titled Suggest a fish store.

Only the name is required, but the more you add, the faster we can check it and the better the page looks on day one. The Submit suggestion button stays grayed out until there's a name.
Do I need an account to suggest a store?
Yes. If you tap Suggest a store while signed out, you'll see "Sign in to suggest a store." Sign in or create a free account, then come back to Fish stores and open the form again.
What happens after I submit?
You'll see "Thanks for the suggestion!" and "We'll review it and add it to the directory." The shop doesn't appear in the directory right away. It stays hidden until our team has checked it's a real, independent shop.
You won't get a notification when it's added, so search for it on Fish stores later to see if it's live.
Which stores can be listed?
The directory is for independent aquarium and tropical fish stores: shops where hobbyists buy fish, invertebrates, corals, plants and supplies. It doesn't list chain stores.
It's my own shop. Should I suggest it?
Yes. Suggest it first, since you can only claim a shop that's already in the directory. Put your contact details in Anything else? so we can reach you. Once it's live, open its page and use Claim it. See Claiming your store.
Can I edit or cancel a suggestion after sending it?
Not from the site. There's no page listing your past suggestions. If you made a mistake, email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the shop's name and the correction.
How do I check whether a store is already listed?
Before suggesting, search Fish stores for the shop's name and also for its town. The search forgives small typos and shows nearby shops when a town has none, so if it's listed nearby under a slightly different name, you'll spot it. If it's listed but the details are wrong, use Suggest a fix on its page instead. See Suggesting store fixes and sightings.
Common problems
"Couldn't submit, please try again." The suggestion didn't go through. Check your connection and tap Submit suggestion again. If it keeps failing, email the details to support@undergroundaquarium.com.
Submit suggestion is grayed out. Type the store name. It's the only required field.
I don't see the Suggest a store button. It's at the very bottom of Fish stores, below the list and Latest shop updates. It isn't on individual shop pages or the store finder.
It's been a while and the shop still isn't listed. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the shop's name and town and we'll check on it.
The shop is listed but closed or moved. Don't suggest it again. Open its page and use Something wrong here? Suggest a fix.
