Mentioning people with @

You can tag another member in what you write by typing @ and their username, like @salmon868. Their name turns into a link to their profile, and they get a notification that you mentioned them.

Where can I mention people?

• Forum threads and forum replies, including when you edit a post
• Feed posts, including when you edit a post
• Comments on feed posts, tanks and listings
• Comments on a tank's own page

Messages don't need mentions. The person you're messaging already gets told.

How do I mention someone?

1. In any of the boxes above, type @ and the start of their username or name.
2. A list of matching members pops up under the box.
3. Pick the person with your mouse or finger, or use the arrow keys and press Enter or Tab. Press Escape to close the list.

The username goes in with a space after it, ready for you to keep typing. You can also type the full username yourself, like @Fish_Guy. Capital letters don't matter.

What does the person I mention see?

A notification that says [Your name] mentioned you, with the start of what you wrote. Tapping it opens the post or comment.

When doesn't a mention send a notification?

• You mention yourself.
• The username doesn't belong to anyone, or the account was deleted or suspended.
• The person has blocked you.
• The person turned mentions off in their notification settings.
• They already got a reply or comment notice for the same thing (for example, you replied to their comment and tagged them too). One notice is enough.
• They were already told about this post. Editing a post only notifies people you newly tag.
• It's in the Shop Owners Lounge, which most members can't open.
• The @ is part of an email address, a web address, or code in a forum post.

You can tag up to 10 people in one post or comment. Anyone past that still gets a link, but no notification.

Can I stop getting mention notifications?

Yes. On the Notifications page, open Choose what you get notified about and switch off Mentions. You can also use the … menu on any mention notification and choose Turn off mentions. See Notifications.

Someone is tagging me to bother me

Block them from their profile and their mentions stop reaching you. See Blocking people. If it's harassment, report it.
