For store owners
Editing your shop details and hours
Your shop's details are the first thing customers see. You edit them on the Hours & details tab of your shop dashboard. Changes show on your public page as soon as you save.
How do I edit my shop's details?
- Open My shops, tap your shop, then open Hours & details.
- Under Your details ("Address, phone, website, hours and what you carry. This is what customers see first."), tap Edit store.
- The Edit your store form opens. Change what you need.
- Tap Save changes (it says Saving…). To back out, tap Cancel or the X.
The form closes and the list under it updates. If saving fails, you'll see "Couldn't save your changes. Please try again."
What's in the Edit your store form?
Every field is optional. Leaving a field empty and saving removes it from your page.
| Field | What to enter | Where it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Street address | Street and suite, like "6910 Luther Dr Ste I" | Under your name, in Good to know, and used for Get directions |
| City | Your town | Your page, and which city page lists you |
| State (e.g. CA) | The two-letter code | Your page, and which state page lists you |
| Phone | Your shop number | Tap-to-call in the contact box |
| Website | Your site's address. You don't need to type the "https" part at the start. | The contact box, opens in a new tab |
| Hours (e.g. Mon-Sat 11am-7pm) | Your regular hours, in your own words. Line breaks are kept. | The contact box and Good to know |
| Short description of your shop | What makes your shop worth the trip | The top of your page |
| What you carry | Tap the tags that fit | Tags under your name and on directory cards |
What do the What you carry tags mean?
Tap any that fit, and tap again to remove: freshwater, saltwater, corals, reef, plants, reptiles, dry goods. They appear under your shop name, on your directory card (the first 3), and as filters shoppers can tap in the directory.
Some tags also feed extra lines on your page and city page. A saltwater, freshwater or plants tag adds you to lines like "Saltwater fish and coral stores in and near [city]" on your city page, and to "What does [shop] sell?" on your own page.
How should I write my hours?
Hours are free text, so customers see exactly what you type. Keep it short and clear, one line per day group:
- Mon-Fri 11am-7pm
- Sat 10am-6pm
- Sun 12-5pm, closed holidays
The site doesn't calculate "open now" from your hours, so write them the way you'd want a customer to read them. For one-off changes, use Special hours (below) instead of editing your regular hours.
How do I add holiday or special hours?
Further down Hours & details, under Special hours:
- Pick the date.
- Leave Closed all day checked for a closure, or uncheck it if you're open with different hours.
- Add a short note (up to 80 characters), like "Thanksgiving" for a closure or "Open 12pm to 4pm" for short hours.
- Tap Add. The button is grayed out until you pick a date.
The day appears in the list above the form, and on your public page under Special hours, below the contact box.
How do special hours show to customers?
Each upcoming date shows as one line, such as "Thu, Nov 27" then "Closed" with your note after it, or your note alone (like "Open 12pm to 4pm") for a day you're open. If you uncheck Closed all day and leave the note empty, customers just see "Special hours", which isn't much help, so always add the hours in the note.
Only today and future dates show. Each day drops off by itself once it's passed, so there's nothing to clean up.
How do I change or remove a special day?
- To change it: add the same date again with the new setting and note. It replaces the old entry.
- To remove it: tap the X at the end of its line. It's removed straight away, with no confirmation.
Can I change my shop's name?
Not from the dashboard. The name isn't in the Edit your store form. Email support@undergroundaquarium.com with the correct name and we'll update it.
I moved. How do I update my location?
Edit your street address, city and state and tap Save changes. Your page, directions link and city page update. The pin on the map doesn't move on its own, though, so email support@undergroundaquarium.com with your new address and we'll move it.
How do I check what's currently on my page?
Under the Edit store button, Hours & details lists what's saved: Address, Phone, Website, Hours and About. Anything empty says "Not set". Tap View public page at the top of the dashboard to see it the way customers do.
Common problems
My shop disappeared from its city or state page after I edited it. Use the two-letter state code (CA, not California). The city and state pages only recognize two-letter codes. Also check the city is spelled the way you want it to appear.
My changes show on my page but not on the city page or store finder. City pages, state pages and the store finder refresh about once an hour. Your own page updates right away.
"Couldn't save your changes. Please try again." Check your connection and tap Save changes again. If it keeps failing, email support@undergroundaquarium.com with what you're trying to change.
Get directions sends people to the wrong place. Directions use your street address, city and state. Make sure all three are filled in and correct.
A special day I added isn't showing on my page. Past dates are hidden. Check you picked the right date and year.
A shopper reported wrong info. Fix it here, then go back to Overview and tap I've fixed it. See Your shop dashboard.
